PREFORMED LINE PRODUCTS’ NEW COMMUNICATIONS BOOTH FEATURES NEW LAST DROP COYOTE® CLOSURE DESIGNS ASSEMBLED IN APPLICATION-SPECIFIC CONFIGURATIONS AT FTTH SHOW IN ANAHEIM, CA JUNE 29 – JULY 1.

Mayfield Village OH, June 26, 2015… Responding to customers’ continuing requests for cost effective, versatile, expandable and installer-friendly fiber optic closure options in FTTH last drop applications, Preformed Line Products Company (“PLP”) will introduce several new line extensions to the COYOTE product family at their redesigned booth #841 at the 2015 FTTH Show.

The new booth will feature PLP products in actual installations (i.e., on poles, etc.), to show hardware, wiring, ease-of-use and connectability. In addition, formed wire products for aerial construction of ADSS cable and strand hardware, like GUY-GRIP® dead-ends will be featured.

“In reality, network design is never static; assumptions about the evolution of any network have to balance quality, reliability, deployment efficiency and cost… especially at the final connection points,” observes Chris Grubish, Global Market Manager, Communications Markets for PLP. “These new designs, in tandem with PLP’s personalized customer service and technical expertise, really support application flexibility, simplified installation and long-term service dependability.”

The new products include:

COYOTE DTC2 (Drop Termination Closure)

A rugged, compact inline, COYOTE DTC2 can be configured to support applications including splice, repair, and duct transition, and has internal adapters, to couple standard pre-connectorized drop cable assemblies, thereby avoiding costly specialized hardened drop cables.

COYOTE DTC4 and DTC6 (Drop Termination Closures)

The COYOTE DTC4 and DTC6 are packed with features to support splicing, connectivity or ducting applications using traditional cable, blown fiber, pushable drop cable technology or microtube cable, all in a footprint slightly larger than a splice tray. Multiple internal fiber organizers accommodate current and future needs.

COYOTE DTC8 (Drop Termination Closure)

The COYOTE DTC8 has ultimate flexibility, supporting a range of fiber organizer systems for splice, distributed splitter and drop applications using traditional cable, blown fiber cable, pushable drop cable technology or microtube cable, as well as pre-connectorized drop applications.

All new COYOTE DTCs are flame retardant, re-enterable and reusable, with factory-installed sealing materials and compact form factors.

COYOTE ATC (Aerial Termination Closure)

PLP’s aerial closure system supports drop distribution networks without the need for specialized drop cable assemblies, and features a unique dual chamber design with independent access to the splice/slack storage chamber or the drop connection chamber. The flexible grommet sealing system supports a wide range of cable profiles.

FIBERLIGN® FDC8 (Drop Cable Storage Bracket)

This new size stores slack cables in-span or pole-/vault-/wall-mounts, at an 8” minimum storage diameter to avoid fiber attenuation or damage. In aerial applications, the ridged design and capture tabs are designed to keep cable secure under high wind and ice loads, and can be double-stacked with ease.

Thomas Peterson, the founder of Preformed Line Products (PLP), believed in innovation and quality. That’s why product testing has been an integral part of PLP since its beginning in 1947. In fact, not only do we test products during the development stage in our research laboratory at PLP’s World Headquarters, we also test products at all our manufacturing facilities, to ensure our quality is never compromised. Quality begins at the receipt of materials when an incoming inspection is performed, including wire analysis. This step ensures that PLP

products start with high quality materials, supplied from certified, pre-approved vendors.

Today, our lab is one of the largest test facilities of conductor and cable accessories for the power utility industry as well as fiber connectivity devices for the communications industry. While many competitors have reduced or eliminated their test labs, we recently expanded ours 50%, to 23,000 square feet. PLP continues to be a leader in testing products to ensure they meet IEEE, CIGRE, IEC, ANSI, ASTM, Telcordia® and other industry standards — and meet or exceed our customers’.

In our world-class test lab we design our products to last decades in the field, withstanding mechanical load, vibration fatigue, thermal and electrical stresses, ultraviolet exposure and corrosion. Our world-class test facility ensures we provide the most innovative products that customers can rely on long-term.

PLP announces third quarter financial results

PLP announces new Raptor Protector™ Dead-end Cover

Mayfield Village, Ohio, May 5, 2015 – Preformed Line Products Company (NASDAQ: PLPC) today reported financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2015.

Net sales for the first quarter of 2015 were $85,790,000, down 5% compared to $89,925,000 in the first quarter of 2014.

The Company posted a net loss for the first quarter 2015 of $256,000, or $.05 per share, compared to net income of $2,738,000, or $.50 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2014.

Currency translation rates had a negative impact on 2015 first quarter net sales of $6,484,000 and a negligible impact on net income. However, losses on foreign currency transactions had an unfavorable impact of $3,354,000 on pre-tax income.

Rob Ruhlman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Exceptionally weak foreign currencies eroded sales and net income during the first quarter. Excluding the impact of foreign currency translation, the Company delivered sales growth of 3%. Unrealized losses on intercompany receivables and payables had a negative $3 million impact on pretax earnings compared to a favorable impact of $700,000 in the first quarter of 2014. We also incurred over $500,000 of restructuring charges in the first quarter of 2015. Excluding the impact of the unrealized foreign currency transactions and restructuring costs, our operating income improved over the first quarter of 2014. We continue to focus on tightly controlling our expenses and maximizing our global sourcing capabilities to mitigate the impact of geopolitical factors on our business.”
